La Consignerie - Bubble to Next.js Migration
Migrated a growing circular economy marketplace from Bubble to Next.js + Supabase, cutting costs by 85%.
The Challenge
La Consignerie had built a successful circular economy marketplace on Bubble, growing to 5,000+ active users and 12,000+ listed products. But the platform was buckling under load: pages took 4-6 seconds to load, search was unreliable, and their monthly Bubble bill had climbed to €600.
Our Approach
Having built 40+ Bubble apps ourselves, we knew exactly how to map Bubble’s architecture to a modern stack:
- Schema Redesign - Converted Bubble’s flat data structure to a normalized PostgreSQL schema
- Feature Parity - Rebuilt all marketplace workflows (listings, search, chat, payments) in Next.js
- Payment Migration - Moved from Bubble’s Stripe plugin to native Stripe Connect for proper marketplace payouts
- Data Transfer - Automated migration scripts handled 12,000+ products and all user accounts
- Zero-Downtime Cutover - Ran both systems in parallel for 48 hours before switching DNS
Results
The new platform launched with zero downtime. Page loads dropped from 4.6s to 0.8s, hosting costs fell by 85%, and conversion rates increased 45% in the first month due to the improved user experience.
Results
0.8s (from 4.6s)
Page load time
€85 (from €600)
Monthly hosting cost
+45%
Conversion rate
4.8/5 (from 3.2/5)
User satisfaction
The migration was seamless. Our users noticed the speed improvement immediately, and our costs dropped by 85%. We should have done this a year ago.
